1. Get the app
Download the Lyft app for iPhone or Android. Already have it? Just make sure to update to the latest version of the app.
2. Get your Lyft Ride Smart credits
You will need to link your osu.edu email address to your new or existing Lyft account to participate. Lyft will send an email to university affiliates. Click on the activation link in the email to claim your credits. If you did not receive the email from Lyft, email firstname.lastname@example.org to claim your credits.
3. Email Invitation Flow
Follow the prompts given in the email invitation. Once completed, you will be enrolled into the Ohio State ride program! You should see the credit information appear in the "Payment" section of your Lyft app.
4. Take a Lyft Ride!
Shared Rides must begin and end within the designated service area, and between 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Ohio State will contribute $6.50 per ride and any overage will be charged to the student’s default credit card on file.
The credits will automatically apply to any rides taken within the above parameters and you’ll see the blue banner appear that says, “Lyft Pass applied: $6.50 off.” When you open the Lyft app, you will be prompted for the type of Lyft that you want to request. Tap “lyft” to the selection option.
Remember, crossed out pricing means that your promo is being applied and the Lyft Smart Ride credits also will be applied. If you do not see crossed-out pricing, please make sure you are following the proper steps and using the program within the set boundaries/parameters.
You may view the ride parameters by visiting the Payment section in the Lyft app. Please note that tips are not required. Any additional tips paid to a driver will be charged to the personal credit card registered to your Lyft account.
