Student Parking Exceptions

Students with a medical need should not complete the form below but instead should send an email detailing their need to the University's ADA Coordinator's office at ada-osu@osu.edu. Medical documentation may be required. Medical need includes both the medical needs of the student or a student requesting an exception due to a medical need of a close family member.

Students with an off campus job that is outside of the COTA (Central Ohio Transit Authority) service area, are required to work outside of COTA's service times, or if the one-way bus ride to the job location will take longer than one hour, may submit a parking exception request. Documentation of the job will be required.  Please submit a letter from the business, preferably on letterhead, from the owner/supervisor/manager/HR (with contact information) stating the name of the student, that the student has a job with that company/business, the address of the business, and if applicable, the hours that the student is required to work.

Students who are active in the military and have the requirement for regular off site training may submit a parking exception request by completing the form below. Documentation will be required.  Please include a letter from the military branch stating that you are an active military member, have mandatory off site training on a regular basis, and the location (city) of where that training takes place.

FYE Aviation students who are enrolled in a class or flight lab at the Ohio State Airport where the class is a required course for their major may submit the exception request form. Students must have the class or flight lab as part of their semester schedule prior to application.

FYE FEEP student parking exceptions are handled through a separate process and should first reach out to the FEEP program prior to completing the form.

An extenuating circumstance not covered above that requires a student to need a vehicle on campus. Please provide a detailed justification for the need and any supporting documentation that helps justify the need.

FYE residence hall students who request to have a vehicle due to home being located out-of-town, out-of-state, or out of the country.

Examples: volunteer opportunities, visiting family, religious gatherings, extracurricular activities, clubs, etc.

Credit hours are not used to determine parking permit eligibility for FYE residence hall students and are not used as justification for qualifying for a parking permit.

Limited travel time between class and start/end time of an off campus job.

FYE residence hall ROTC members that do not have the regular out of town training requirement (see military information above).

FYE residence hall student athletes should reach out to their coach for parking information.
